Thoughts From The Builder
Building custom steel bicycles has been a natural progression for me and my love of bicycles. I started racing bicycles in 1991 in local cyclocross races. Immediately, I fell in love with the sport and have continued to race in as many races as I can get to each fall. Beginning in 2010, I started building my own frames and formed Kesho Bicycles.
Kesho means “tomorrow” in Swahili. I try to focus on the positive side of tomorrow and in my life. Bicycles are an important part of my tomorrow. The people I know through cycling also tend to be positive and optimistic folks. We focus on the fun of riding bikes, the feeling of transporting yourself over a distance and arriving feeling refreshed and with a smile. I feel riding a bicycle which was designed for your body and your style of riding brings a unique joy that is difficult to describe but easily felt.
In my opinion, a custom steel bicycle is the perfect bicycle for the sport of cyclocross. A bicycle that fits the rider perfectly, handles the way the rider wants and offers a smooth ride will be an enjoyable bicycle to ride and race. For me, riding and racing has to be fun and a bicycle that is enjoyable to ride helps make the experience even more positive. I also build custom steel road and mountain bikes. I rotate between all three types of bikes on a regular basis with my own riding for fun and fitness.
The process and experience of ordering a custom bicycle is an enjoyable experience, and offers many benefits over a mass produced bicycles. I look forward to working with you to fine-tune the geometry and dimensions of the frame, and the tube selection, before picking up the torch. I love considering the limitless options for paint and components that make your bicycle unique and exactly what you have wished for. I do my best not to rush anything. This is your dream bike that you will be riding for a long time, so it has to be right. Feel free to call or send me a note if you have questions, want to learn more about the process or just want to talk about bikes. I’d love to hear from you.
